Treatment modalities

Remedial Massage

The word remedial emphasises that we intend to improve and cure a specific concern that might be causing you pain, tightness, discomfort in your body. It can be an acute or chronic injury, overuse of muscles, tendons, ligaments from poor posture, and inefficient movement strategy from being active and training, from not moving enough and being sedentary.

Remedial massage assists to improve and increasing your body's own healing response. It does this by eliminating excess inflammation and damaged cells and increasing the circulation of nutrients and oxygen to restricted and tight tissue. It also Works on your nervous system, which helps you down-regulate and to be responsive to heal. Our body can't heal if it's defending.

Remedial massage is beneficial when you are in pain and prevents you from getting in pain. It's an excellent tool for maintaining a happy, healthy, balanced body.

Dry needling

Dry needling is a great technique to treat chronic pain, acute muscle spasms and injuries. It is highly effective and can be a very gentle treatment for people sensitive to touch due to their injury. Dry needling uses thin acupuncture needles to encourage more blood flow, nutrients and oxygen to the muscle. Which helps it relax and return to its optimal length. Highly beneficial in people who train regularly, with all sorts of tightness, restrictions and pain. Also great for the desk jockey's with overuse injuries, like tight neck and shoulders.

Beneficial for:

  • Neck and back pain

  • Rotator cuff injuries

  • Hip issues

Active Release Technique (ART)

Is a patent hands-on touch and technique that is highly effective to treat soft tissue injuries. Soft tissue refers to muscles, tendons, facia, ligaments and nerves. All the important stuff that wants oxygen. Thorough examination and diagnosis, we use its dynamic techniques, where we passively or actively utilise your motion to take the tissues into a new range, to heal repetitive strains, break adhesions, joint dysfunctions and increase oxygen to tissue.

If you tried everything else with no result, ART might just be what you need.

Beneficial for:

  • Acute injury from activities

  • Repetitive motion injury from work and everyday habits

  • Nerve entrapments

Lympathic and Visceral bodywork

Our lymphatic system is part of our Immune system, and we have lymph nodes all over our body. Most of what is located in your neck/head and gut.  Unlike the blood, it doesn't get pumped by the heart; instead, it moves by our breath and movement.  Sometimes there can be a blockage, and our lymph can't clear inflammation, dead cells and debris. Leaving us feeling stuck, uncomfortable, and fatigue. This can prolong our healing of current issues and injuries.

I also work with our viscera and organs, e.g. lungs, liver, stomach, intestines. Your body prioritises the health and healing of these organs before your extremity, and they should not be painful to touch. If they are compromised in any way, you will experience referred pain in other parts of your body. There is a strong link between organ issues and chronic physical pains.

Beneficial for:

  • Autoimmunity conditions

  • Edema and swelling

  • Fatigue

Myofascial Release

Fascia is a connective tissue that surrounds our muscles and organs. This tissue interconnects all over our bodies. So if there is a restriction in one area, it will compromise another. This connective tissue needs to slide and glide so our muscles and nerves can function optimally.

From our posture and daily positions, this tissue can get stuck. Fascia responds to temperature and pressure; using a technique like myofascial release, we warm up the tissue and the tissue's fluidity to create change. It focuses on working on different fascia connections and slings, using slow continuous pressure with a minimal balm to achieve good contact and connection. Which enables our muscles to move in harmony.

Beneficial for:

  • Postural issues

  • Scar tissues

  • Tight hamstrings

Trigger Point Therapy

When the muscle tissue in our body lacks blood flow, nutrients, and oxygen, muscle tissue starts to build dense, tight knots. The stuck muscle fibres can become active trigger points and refer pain into other parts of your body.

By applying constant pressure on these points, we can make the muscle release and soften. This improves your body's awareness and allows the stressed tissues to heal and you to be pain-free.

Beneficial for:

  • Shoulders, back and hip issues

Myofascial Cupping

Cupping has been a part of Eastern medicine for a very long time. It uses suction cups that are placed on specific areas of the body to decompress the tissue. This allows for an increase in blood flow, nutrients and oxygen.

We can keep the cups still or move them around. This draws the blood up to the surface, and you can be left with marks on your body. This is normal, and the darker the spots are, the more stagnation of blood you had.

Beneficial for:

  • Back pain

  • Shoulder pain

  • Knee pain

  • Plantar fasciitis

Strength, Prehab and rehab Exercise

When it comes to a happy and healthy body, we can't only release muscles and tissue. We need to strengthen our bodies so they can be equipped to perform the tasks we ask of them. Tight muscles are tight for a reason; they are trying to protect and help you. Our bodies only care about survival, and they will use any strategy to keep you moving. In some cases, we might be less efficient in our movement pattern.

To help with that, I incorporate Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilisation - DNS; the approach provides functional tools to assess and activate intrinsic stabilisers to optimise our movement. We look at how our breathing patterns affect our core and trunk stabilisation. How we utilise our spine, centration of our joints, and create balance with different muscle groups to achieve efficient movements and pain-free life.

Beneficial for:

  • Prehab, rehab and all the time to every one!

PAUSE

Stress Relief & Nurturing Bodywork

Sometimes we just need to press pause, life gets too intense, and we start to lose sight of what's essential. Our health! For our bodies to heal, our nervous system must be in the right state. Sometimes it's not about the result of achieving a specific outcome. The goal is to be in the present moment and surrender. Most of my treatment might not be so relaxing at the time, but you will feel relaxed after. With PAUSE, it's all about nurturing and reaping all the benefits while allowing your nervousness to down-regulate and maybe even drift away to another dimension.
